About Bern Roberts, LAC

Finding Your Path Through Life’s Challenges

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor, who specializes in working with couples in crisis or who are stuck in their evolving relationship. I also work with older adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and unwanted pornography use.

My therapeutic influence helps clients utilize internal reflection in empathetic ways. I believe that there are really no bad parts in a person. With couples, he also uses proven strategies developed by John and Julie Gottman when counseling couples.

When Life Becomes Overwhelming

Stress, anxiety, worry, and depression are taking over. You have tried to keep up with life's responsibilities, but the pressure is too much.

You are unique. Your challenges are unique. There is not a one size fits all approach. There are often unique solutions needed for unique individuals and their stories.

Finding Hope at Different Stages

Late Adolescents

What a challenge it is to just be a teenager. Emotional and physical growth, along with blocks can influence every adolescent like they are riding a heat-seeking missile without a guidance system. Those struggling with family acceptance, relationships, fitting in, pre-occupation with sex and pornography need help in a time and place where help is not easy to find. Bern utilizes trust and motivational sources to help adolescents find their confidence to do hard things because they want to and they see the value in it.

Adults

Just because we get older, it doesn’t mean we stop experiencing dependency, addiction, trauma, loss, loneliness, and anxiety from unexpected experiences and changes in life such as aging, separation and death. Your value and the value of everyone else on this planet is a treasured gift from God, regardless of circumstances and challenges. Sometimes, we just can’t see that alone and we need help to see it again.

Couples Work

Living with someone can be both rewarding and challenging. With nearly 70 percent of those challenges being perpetual or unchanging, couples thrive when they learn how to dance to different music. Bern has worked with troubled couples in unique settings for 12 years. Through his experience, he has found that most marriages can not only be salvaged, but the missing joy in a relationship can be found and recreated.

Discovering a More Meaningful Life

As your motivation slowly decreases, you ask yourself if hope exists for a brighter future.

That future exists. And together, we will find it and help you live a more meaningful life.

Professional Background

I’m a Licensed Associate Counselor with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1989. I have been the co-owner of a small business and have worked with the community since 2001. My experiences span across many different areas of life, which has allowed me to increase how I can help my clients. I have training and skills working with pornography and lust addictions, sexual trauma, infidelity, marriage counseling, anxiety, depression, and low self-confidence.

The Goal

“My goal in therapy is really your goal. If you are uncertain what that is, I will help you find it. I believe you should feel real value in coming to therapy and more importantly, real change when you leave.”
